A Message from LG&E
Spring brings the potential for severe weather in the forecast.
Take these steps to prepare now:
- Remember downed power line safety: High winds can cause trees and limbs to fall, increasing the risk of downed power lines. Stay away from downed wires and keep others away, too. Always assume any downed wire is an energized power line and call us immediately:
- LG&E Residential: 502-589-1444 or 800-331-7370 (fast path 1-1-3)
- KU/ODP Residential: 800-981-0600 (fast path 1-1-2)
- Stay informed: Monitor weather alerts and download our mobile app to report and track outages.
- Ready your emergency kit: In the event you do lose power, rest assured we’ll respond safely and as quickly as possible to restore service. However, it’s always a good idea to have an emergency kit ready and include items such as:
- Flashlights with extra batteries.
- A battery-operated weather radio. (We recommend a NOAA Weather Radio, which allows you to receive weather warnings.)
- An up-to-date first-aid kit, including any required prescription medications.
- Water and nonperishable food.
- Bonus tip: Keep a fully charged power bank handy in order to charge cell phones (and any other devices you rely on).
- Secure loose items: Bring outdoor furniture and decorations indoors to prevent them from becoming projectiles in high winds.
We continue to invest to make our entire system more resilient against severe weather events like what is in the forecast. This includes replacing old poles with more durable ones, upgrading equipment and software, adding weather protection to equipment and installing more automated technology that isolates problems and helps our crews efficiently pinpoint the locations of repairs.
If Mother Nature does cause issues, our employees will continue working around the clock to provide the very best service to our customers, as they’ve been proud to do for more than century.
