Barbara Burch, a member of the Crescent Hill Garden Club, has been honored with the coveted 2024 Gardens of Eden Award Grand Prize, in recognition of her stunning, eco-friendly garden.

Barbara’s garden, celebrated for its natural beauty and environmental mindfulness, stood out in this year’s competition, which took place in October. The Gardens of Eden Awards, sponsored by Hidden Hollow Orchard, celebrate those who cultivate layered landscapes filled with flowers, shrubs, and trees that not only create serene havens for wildlife like birds and butterflies but also contribute to a healthier planet by improving air quality.

The award’s name reflects a larger vision—imagining a world where every garden planted helps to combat climate change and takes us back to living in harmony with nature, much like the fabled Garden of Eden.

As a Grand Prize winner, she received a blue ribbon, a garden calendar, a gift card to Frank Otte Nursery and Garden Center, a special sign to display in her garden, and a $1,000 check! Barbara’s garden was on the 2024 Crescent Hill Garden Tour, where visitors admired her thoughtfully designed central garden, a tranquil water feature, and a variety of perennial plants that attract both the eye and the local wildlife.
