On the grounds of the historic Peterson-Dumesnil House, 301 S. Peterson Ave

VOLUNTEER SHIFTS

Most volunteer shifts are 3 hours long

FAMILY FRIENDLY

Youth ages 16-21 are welcome to volunteer without a parent. 

Youth 10-15 should sign up with parent or guardian. 

Check volunteer opportunity job descriptions for most family-friendly shifts.

VOLUNTEER ORIENTATION & APPRECIATION DINNER

All volunteers are invited to attend the FREE Volunteer Appreciation Dinner on Friday, July 1 at 6 pm.   Volunteers will have the opportunity to meet the event chairs, get an overview of the festival activities, meet other volunteers and win Door Prizes!

VOLUNTEER DRESS

Put on your patriotic clothing and dress for the weather! It could be hot, rainy or beautiful weather.  Wear comfortable shoes.  Bring sun screen, bug spray and water bottle.  Put picnic spending money in your pocket and leave valuables in your car trunk.

VOLUNTEER CHECK IN

Volunteers are asked to check in and sign in at the Information Booth 15 minutes before shift.

COMMUNITY SERVICE HOURS

CHCC will verify high school student’s community service hours when they volunteer

Volunteer Job Descriptions

Family Friendly Shifts - Adults want to bring your kids to volunteer with you?  These are the volunteer slots that would be good for Families volunteering together and are highlighted in RED INK:

Event Set Up - Event Tear Down - Cake & Prize Wheel Booth - Children’s Fun Zone - Children’s Field Games

Teens Volunteering Alone - Any teenager 13 years of age or older may volunteer to work alone with parental consent.  These are the volunteer slots that would be good for teens volunteering alone:

Event Set Up – Monday,  July 3 from 9 am – Noon.  Help get event items out of the Peterson-

Dumesnil House Basement & deliver to appropriate location.  Assist to put out signage and set              up booths, tables, garbage cans, recycle bins, water stations, etc.  Family Friendly volunteer

Event Tear Down – Wednesday, July 5 from 9 am – Noon. Put away all event materials and store in

Peterson-Dumesnil House basement.  Family Friendly volunteer opportunity.

Cake & Prize Wheel Booth – Tuesday, July 4 from 10 am – 10 pm.  Stock cakes & prizes. Spin the

wheel. Watch number board and remove change. Assist winners to pick prizes.  Count/make

change. Family Friendly volunteer opportunity.

Children’s Fun Zone – Tuesday, July 4 from 10 am – 8 pm.  Assist kids to enjoy the free inflatable

games.  Family Friendly volunteer opportunity.

Children’s Field Games – Tuesday, July 4 from 1 – 3 pm.  Assist kids to enjoy the free field games. 

Give away prizes.  Family Friendly volunteer opportunity.

Information Booth – Tuesday, July 4 from 10 am to 10 pm.  Give out event information. Point

attendees to event features. Assist volunteers to sign in and get name badges.

Pet Show – Tuesday, July 4 from 10 am – 1 pm.  Assist attendees to sign up their pets for the contest.

Give participants directions.  Help hand out prizes.

Cake Contest – Tuesday, July 4 from 11 am – 2 pm.  Assist Cake Contest chair to accept cakes for the

contest.  Cut up pieces of cake for the judges.  Cut and package pieces of cake for the public. 

Sell pieces of cake. 

Art Fair Hospitality – Tuesday, July 4 from 8 am – 4 pm.  Staff the Artist Hospitality Tent.  Give out

drinks and snacks to artists.  “Babysit” artist tents for needed breaks.

Artist Check In – Monday, July 3 from 1 pm – 7 pm.  Working in the Information Booth, check in the

artists.  Direct artists to their booth location.

Silent Auction Set Up -Monday, July 3 from 12 pm – 4 pm.  Set out auction items. Decorate tables.

Set up item signs.  Hang events signs.

Silent Auction – Tuesday, July 4 from 10 am – 7 pm.  Watch the silent auction and raffle items.

Answer questions.  Assist attendees to get onto the online platform.

Silent Auction Pick up -  July 5, July 7, July 8 and July 9.  Greet winners. Confirm their winning prize. 

Get prize for winner.  Assist taking winner photos if needed.

Peterson-Dumesnil House Tours – Tuesday, July 4 from 11 am – 5 pm.  Greet guests.  Staff a station

upstairs in the Peterson-Dumesnil House.  Answer questions.
